Why is Codi Galloway using Dog Whistles to Divide Our Community?

Definition of Dog Whistle: A dog whistle is a term used primarily in political discourse to describe a type of coded language that conveys a specific message to a particular group while remaining innocuous or ambiguous to the general public. This concept is analogous to a dog whistle used in training, which emits a sound at a frequency that dogs can hear but humans cannot.

Dog Whistle #1, Homophobia

If Ms. Galloway were interested in making a fair comparison of our qualifications, she would have put MPA behind my name, just as she did with MBA behind hers. I don't sign my correspondence with the three letters that indicate I have a master of public administration degree. That would be pretentious. But, I also do not include a gender preference, he/him with my signature. She wants you to think I do because it's a signal to homophobes that I support gay rights. Here's an easier way, Codi. I support gay rights because they are human rights. They want nothing more than to be treated equally with everyone else. Use that in your literature.

Be afraid, be very afraid! Transgender people exist! Universities like diversity! Some people prefer to use pronouns we're not used to!

FYI, transgender surgery isn't performed on those under 18. I wanted to allow puberty blockers under 18 so people could reach the age of majority before making a life-changing decision about surgery.

The state was not forcing anyone to use preferred pronouns. This legislation was designed purely to stir up fear in voters, just as this flyer is designed to do.

Dog Whistle #2, Homophobia AND Racism

Dog Whistle #3, Racism

I'm accused of voting to allow illegal aliens the right to vote. This is another tiresome trick the far right is using to stir up fear. I voted no on a constitutional amendment to require US citizenship before you could vote in Idaho. Why on earth would I vote against THAT!?!?

Because it's already in the Idaho Constitution. The amendment will do exactly nothing except waste time and taxpayer money. Extreme politicians are promoting it as a way to show they are tough on immigration. What a scam: Do nothing and take credit for protecting voters.

The immigration problem—yes, of course there's a problem—can only be solved by Congress. Anything Idaho legislators do is simply posturing.

Dog Whistle #4, Racism, Again

The letters BLM are guaranteed to set off some voters, even though in Idaho, those letters most often stand for Bureau of Land Management. Codi knows that, which is why she falsely claimed I posted that I was proud of BLM protesters.

Here's my actual Facebook post from 6/3/2020.

So, Codi is for Families, Just Not All of Them

"Codi Galloway is for Idaho Families." That's her slogan. It doesn't exactly set her apart. I'm also for families. It may astonish Ms. Galloway, but I'm a member of a family, too. My family includes people who are gay and people of color. Does my family count? Does yours?

With this campaign flyer, Codi Galloway has told us who she is. We should believe her.
